    I always use the subtitles

I got this goodmans freesat box…. its ok but subtitles dont work on non freesat channels….. to lee hartman…. if your having problem with subtitles the very best thing you can do is unplug your freesat box from the mains for 5 mins then plug it back in so it re boots itself then the subtitles should be clear.

Bought two. First has failed “no signal” after two weeks – just as the Bush equivalent (3 of them) sold by Argos did – none lasted 12 months! A pity because it is a good basic box.

My uncle has this receiver and after one month it won’t come out of standby … Not sure if this could or would be caused by misaligned dish as his dish seems a bit out if line with other dishes

Hello. Can you tell me if this Godmans Box can be used in France. I notice that you have to input a UK post code to tune the receiver??

I’ve only been using this box for a few days (so based on the above comments i’ll change my tune in the coming weeks) but i’m impressed. As someone who can’t get good Freeview signal i was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the picture. It even pans and scans 4:3 images to widescreen which is quite a nice touch my standard freeview doesn’t.

To the person who said that they cannot get it out of standby, i noticed a quirk (/fault) whereby you have to press the power button so the light goes green, it then seems to go back to standby itself, if you then press program up or down it should start. A little annoyance isn’t bad for £29 (although I won my one in a raffle!)

this awful box has put me off freeview for life! it has *never* had the correct channels on it – “no signal” (even tho sky box gets said signal) and now it keeps rebooting. horrible cheap rubbsh, its heading for the bin!

I purchased my FreeSat Box on the 14.11 2012 at ythe price of £34.50 from my local Tesco Extra. My problem is since the 1st week of Dec 2013 my FreeSat Box has displayed NO SIGNAL for NO APPARENT REASON as a single mum to 3 children I don’t havem £35 to replace the box + its past its 12mnth guarentee (JUST) and to top it off Tesco Staff told me this make is “NOT THE BEST MAKE” + they no longer sell the product so there is nothing they can do?? NOW AFTER FINDING THIS PAGE I DISCOVER THE BOX HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED? Any ideas as 2 what I do next I’ve already survived 3wk with NO TV + 3 kids 2 drive me up the wall. I need 2 be advised as to where the problem may lie or what options are available 2 me as a consumer.

Unfortunately they are a fairly basic and problematic product, but no other at the time came close to that price point. If you have a “no satellite signal” error, then maybe try testing the receiver on another satellite dish of a friend or family member just to rule out the possibility that the receiver is fine and that your satellite dish may have moved slightly, as this could quite easily be the case. Also check your cabling to the back of the receiver to make sure the satellite cable is well screwed in and making good contact. If you deem the receiver is faulty, then you may need to go back to Goodmans themselves and complain that it doesn’t meet the 2 year expected lifespan in accordance with EU warranty guidelines; this is some what of a nonsense in this country as we don’t work to the same process, but usually is worth it to them to just switch the box out, though at this price point, you may be hard pushed. Good luck.

I have a Goodmans GFSAT101SD, but my “new” Samsung television does not have scart socket. Please advice how I can connect. Thanks

  21. Steven Says:

    Hi Elisabegt,
I used a scart adapter, sound left/right and Video out (red, white and yellow in colour) phono connections which cost £3.99 or less from most good retailers. Then used a cable to connect it to the TV, just like connecting a Wii games console! Works a treat!
