About the Sagem DTR94320S Freesat+ Digital Receiver
The Sagem DTR94320S Freesat+ High Definition Receiver is a Freesat PVR twin tuner 320GB hard drive receiver, for use on the Freesat satellite television platform.
The DTR94320S receiver allows up to 80 hours HD and 160 hours SD recording time from the 320GB hard drive (depending on broadcast format), is a twin tuner allowing you to record one channel whilst watching another.

I bought one of these at the beginning of January (2011) and at first all was working without problem. Then, after about two weeks, I found the box started to play up with onscreen messages appearing stating there was a problem and I should format the hard drive. After this I had problems with play back of recordings where the fast forward, rewind and stop buttons refused to respond and therefore the only way to stop a recording playing was to put the box into standby.
On top of this I also couldn’t set up recordings using the TV Guide. I would open up the guide find the programme to record and press the record button on the remote but nothing happened. I could only set up manual recordings.
Everything had originally worked ok so I couldn’t understand why it was going wrong.
The best way to fix it, temporarily, was to power off the box, leave it for a minute, power it back on, complete the installation setup process, carry out a factory reset and the format the hard drive. This got thing working again.
I did phone Sagem Helpdesk today and they confirmed an over the air software update will be released in the next week to fix the problems I’ve mentioned above. I will wait and see if this turns up. If it does and I still have problems Sagem have promised to send me a replacement box.

Bought a brand new boxed SAGEM DTR94320S from a reputable seller on ebay at a very good price. This box is totally flawed. HD channels disappear if you have been watching iplayer for a while. Sometimes iplayer content will not play even though it works fine on my pc. Sometimes the red button on the screen for iplayer totally disappears and I cannot access it. I have also had problems with the hard drive – within the first few hours of using the box, it said the hard drive was corrupt and that I had to reformat the entire thing. There is no anamorphic display unlike Sky, so if certain programs are broadcast in 4:3 ratio you cannot adjust them to fit the tv screen. I have called the help desk at Sagem, and apparently you have to sit by the box and unplug it and turn it back on all day just so it functions correctly. Not a good advert fo freesat. Makes me want to switch back to Sky.

Purchased a Sagem DTR94320s in November 2010 and experiencing video and audio drop outs on all BBC channels from about a month into use (screen goes black for 1 to 2 seconds then returns to normal). Also happens when rewinding and fast forwarding live tv!
Often find the EPG extremely slow to load and button pressing extremely lethargic and as one person on here says no anamorphic option available!
Called Sagem about the problems and was told to power down the box and reformat the hard drive and factory reset. The box works fine for two days but the picture drop out returns and the whole box slows down again.
Sagem don’t care and the box is seriously flawed. Remote functions are cumbersome having to back track on menu’s to get anywhere and series record and EPG recording problems are now being experienced. The remote control button layout is poorly designed. Think twice before buying a Sagem

I bought the sagem freesat box in March 2011 and also have lots of problems, when it is set to record series linked programmes it sometimes “forgets” to record!! I am certain some functions must be simpler to use than they are! The box also freezes alot which is very annoying when you then have to switch it off at the mains and wait until it resets itself!! I now wish I had bought a different make.

I’ve had the box about a year now and wouldn’t recommend anyone to buy it. Every couple of days all the on screen menus become inactive, i.e. they don’t even appear when you press the remote control buttons. Only way to solve is reboot the box. I’ve upgraded the firmware a couple of times with updates from the sagem website but this didn’t fix the problem.

I bought a Sagem box about a month ago and it’s never worked properly. I thought the screen blackouts were due to bad weather! We can only record if watching the same channel and it constantly forgets or refuses to record. We’ve used Sky for years and never had a single problem. I just don’t know what to do. I need to return it, but like mel last year, i don’t live on UK. It was the biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent.

Just bought one of these yesterday as im getting rid of Sky. I updated its software via a USB stick. It was a doddle to get up and running but thewn everything that could go wrong did. We were watching BBC HD when the screen started to go black every couple of minutes. We rang the helpline and after being talked through a factory reset followed by formatting the ‘blank’ hardrrive I thought that was it solved.
Not so it repeated the black screens then things got worse as it went like a “what the butler saw machine” IE black screen then picture in rapid succession and refused to respont to the remote whatsoever.
Needless to say its back in its box and going back to Currys tomorrow. I WOULDNT RECOMMENT THIS PILE OF JUNK ON MY WORST ENEMY (Second thoughts)

I’ve had one of these for nearly a year now and it’s worked fine for me. It records when I want it to. It pauses and plays when I want it to. In fact it does just about anything I want it to – except you can’t set a programme reminder like you can on Sky / Virgin. I.E. I can’t sit at the start of the evening and select my favourite programmes and the box switch automatically between them. No, it’s up with the TV guide at every programme’s end to select the next viewing material. Other than this I’m more than happy with it and I would recommend it to anyone.

Just purchased lightly used via Ebay. Hard drive spins but does not function, i.e. if I press record it does nothing. It says hard drive is full, and when I try to format it, it says cannot format. I would like to remove the drive and format it in a PC, but I’m not sure what file system to use. Is it a Linux EXT2 FS? Other than no PVR function it seems to work reasonably well, and the HD channels are super clear.
