I went into comet in Cannock today to buy a Freesat box, while I was waiting they was taking a call from a customer asking about Freesat, in front of me was another customer wanting to buy Freesat, we were all told that they had no boxes and that there would be none for at least two weeks. I don’t believe they really know when the stock will be available. To say that after years of planning that this was disappointing is an understatement. I have decided to try Freesat from Sky and see what happens with Freesat.

Barry – Don’t forget the ‘Pay Once, Watch Forever’ deal from Sky, its less than half the price of their Freesatfromsky deal, here’s what we said on a previous comment.

Yes, Sky’s “Pay Once, Watch Forever” deal still appears to be the best around. You can purchase from Dixons for £75, plus if you use our exclusive discount code ‘SKY10′, you’ll get a further 10% off.

“Due to very high demand there is a shortage of freesat HD boxes in the shops at the moment. We are working with freesat retailers and manufacturers to increase supplies as soon as possible.

In the meantime some freesat retailers will allow you to reserve HD boxes for collection when stock comes in. The freesat website will continue to give you updates.”

I know this may be the wrong time to ask given the shortage of receivers at the moment – but any news at all on the PVR versions.

This company are advertsing Humax receivers https://www.satalogue.com/section3/page1.htm
Haven’t pursued it, but thought it may be of interest as they seem to know what they are talking about.

We removed a comment made by us questioning how genuine Satalogue were (which Satalogue had replied to above). At the time of publishing we were unaware of any independent retailers able to sell the products, hense presumed (wrongly) that Satalogue may have been a non-licensed retailer and purchasing from the major retailers then selling on. We now appreciate that this was wrong, and information is more accessible to us to have known Satalogue were a Freesat licensed retailer and continue to be so to this date. We have apologised to them directly. Why not visit their site and have a look at the Freesat products they sell. Visit http://www.satalogue.com

There’s a serious problem with the £29.99 BUSH freesat box from Argos (Argos ref 532/1557). They only receive one polarity – and don’t get the ITV etc channels. I have returned two. freesat works fine on two other freesat receivers in the house. Both Bush boxes were bought from different branches of Argos. Management thnere just shrug it off. I have advised Argos HQ
