Freesat Wins Gold At The Field Marketing And Brand Experience Awards

Today the Freesat and Retail Marketing Group (RMG) team are celebrating winning first place in the ‘Most effective brand/store relationship’ category at the Field Marketing and Brand Experience Awards.

Beating off stiff competition from Red Bull and REL, the winning Freesat team demonstrated they had built a special and successful relationship between the brand and electronic retailers across the country. The award also demonstrates the fantastic work of the training team in partnership with Astra.

This Gold Prize is the latest in a slew of awards won by Freesat’s team and agencies since launch: earlier this year at the Independent Business Awards, the team was awarded the Best Training Award for Consumer Electronics – beating Sony – as well as Best Advertising Campaign.

Will Abbott, Freesat Marketing and Communications Director said;

It’s brilliant to have the work of the Freesat training team acknowledged by the Field Marketing Industry and we’re thrilled with this award. Our training team are incredibly important to our business success and this recognition means a lot to us all.

Emily Wilkinson, Client Service Manager at Retail Marketing Group, said;

This award is a fantastic endorsement of the cohesive partnership between Freesat and ourselves, which is paramount to the team’s success and motivation. The team’s built some incredible relationships with their retailers and we’re looking forward to building on this success so that the Freesat brand continues to grow.

  1. Fantastic news and more to convince anyone in doubt that Freesat is fast becoming a serious player within the main UK TV Delivery platforms.

  2. Hold tight folks, more is on it’s way and fairly soon. The new Astra 1N Satellite will be in place later this Month finally resolving the biggest issue holding back Freesat’s expansion since launch and that’s the lack of ‘spotbeam’ capacity.

    All these awards must be a good moral booster for the Freesat team who, considering it’s only a small operation, have achieved wonders within only just over three years of being established.

  3. @phillipsmith

    You can always switch to non freesat mode, only thing is Freesat like to obviously get the channels approval before adding to the EPG.

  4. Will the channels that are placed on the new ASTRA 1N be transfered onto ASTRA 2E + 2F ?

    Channals such as STV, UTV and an RTE Intenational should be included (all in HD).

    UKTV channels such as gold, dave, alibi, watch, edan, history,

    The above are examples of future tv channels (HD) which will gain extra channels.

  5. New channel from Scotland is in talks to appear exclusively on the Freesat platform, the new channel is by Bad Pony Media and will invest in new programming and will be paid for by product placement rather than advertising. Little information is available at present as talks are still on going. The information comes from ex DS poster and STV expert Corporatemedia.

  6. Sorry for the two separate posts computer problems.

    STV HD and STV +1 should be available on Freesat by December. STV are keen to have them on the platform before full DSO as they have huge plans for their channel which could see many schedule changes next year.
