The UK’s biggest radio group Global Radio is making a move into television with Heart TV and Capital TV. The two non-stop music channels will launch this September, initially on Freesat (and Sky).
Ashley Tabor, Global Founder and Executive President gave the news to all Global employees via video link this morning.
Commenting on the development, Stephen Miron, Global Group CEO said:
The creation of Global TV is another exciting step for the company. We continue to grow our business and I’m sure advertisers will enjoy the opportunity of extending their relationship with Heart & Capital as a result of being on TV.
Ashley Tabor said:
Global prides itself on clear, simple brand propositions for its consumers. Brand extension is a natural thing for us to do, for example online, mobile and live events, so I’m delighted we’re now bringing both Heart and Capital’s top class brand quality to music television.
Channel numbers and more specific information not available at this time.

Not my cup of tea if their radio stations are anything to go by but
lots of people will watch them I’m sure so good addition for Freesat.

Where is Viva and 4Music? 11 music channels on Freesat yet no 4Music or Viva the only two on Freeview.

Welcome Heart and Capital. Great news, more choice for the music viewer/ listener, more revenue for the Freesat EPG. Sorry its a bit off-topic, but Vintage TV is really getting better now imo with a real variety of new shows starting, prob the only music channel i tune into.

Delighted that a major broadcaster, all-be-it radio, has made an announcement and included Freesat in the plans.
2 Music channels from them will be a huge addition to the Freesat platform and again shows that Freesat is a platform to be seriously considered when making plans to go on air with a channel.
Well done Global Radio!
Agreed. Viva and 4Music atleast, with the latter something i find stupid, that Channel4 hasn’t made inroads to get their music channel onto Freesat in the way they did with Channel4HD.
Viva, id be surprised if MTV/Viacom were to bring it to Freesat, but the fact its only FTV on DSAT is something to be positive about and hopeful for in the future.

It has been a quiet time for the platform, though that is partly my fault due to lack of time, plus Freesat rarely contribute anything anymore
which is a shame. Sure it will pick up again when G2 launches etc.

Good news to see these services launch on the platform (even if I’m not a fan of their radio brands), they will make good additions plus the promotion to the platform given on-air. Freesat does have a very strong music channel line-up when you see how many are on there, 4Music and Viva aren’t there yet but I think they will soon arrive.
What’s interesting now is how much market share these channels will take across DSAT as a whole with all Bauer’s offerings behind a paywall. As Global are making these FTA, maybe it may stir Bauer and C4 (Box TV) think about their services going FTA longer term.

Would be nice if XFM Radio & Absolute Radio move into TV and come to Freesat, in my opinion the two best radio stations around for variety of music.

great for the platform, but:
Two of the most mind numbing god forsaken stations that defecate into our ears are gonna do it to our eyes. hoping tv regulations are better than radio :
[80 minutes of programming on constant repeat is not entertainment!] (i am stingeyal- i made a youtube ad for FS)

There are thousands of stations on the net to listen to with better quality than DAB.
You don’t even need a computer to listen these days. No need to listen to the mind numbing repatative bleep that these two Borg stations provide.

If the choice of videos is anything like the output of their choice of music on the radio.. I am far from excited it will be the same 12 videos every hour just in a different order

Just like all the other music channels on TV! Hehe!
I’m also half-convinced that each music channel is timeshifted from each other by 10 minutes.
