Humax HDR Wins Home Cinema Choice Award

Home Cinema Choice have today announced the Humax FOXSAT-HDR Freesat+ PVR Digital Box as the “Best Digital Recorder” in their 2009 awards in association with DTS.

Humax can take pride in fending off stiff competition from the Panasonic DMR-EX98V, Sagem DTR 6416DT and Sony RDR-HXD995; although having the in-built Freesat EPG may have been significantly important in obtaining this excellent result.

You can read more about this award and many others announced on the Home Cinema Choice website.

  1. Congrats to Humax.

It would also be very nice if they could make an effort making a firmware update available, since we haven’t had one for 6 months to be exactly. In particular being able to delete recordings while it records other programs (or while watching a recording) would be a very helpful fix.

  2. My Plasma TV got an award for the best 40″ to 50″ TV, and I also have the Humax HDR, and BBC HD looks amazing with this TV & this Sat Box.

  3. Ah you are right, 2nd April 2009. I guess they have just launched the online version up for all to see. Nice spot.

  4. Well deserved award. The Humax HDR really is a cracking box. Its software is incredibly stable and reliable for a first release. But this award does seem to highlight its main weakness – the size of the hard drive. The 320 GB disc can easily become ‘chock-a-block’ (FULL !) with HD content in about two weeks of use.

I am sure if Humax were to release a 1TB ‘special edition’ version they would sell well. Like many others I have upgraded my disc but can see this is not something that everyone would be comfortable in carrying out.

  5. Congrats Humax! Please could you fix the ‘no delete while recording’ problem and speed up the menus a bit. Thanks 🙂

  6. Hi

Well done humax ! Im glad to see this result, we have both the humax freeview & freesat pvrs, both are excelent. How about a humax 1TB combi freesat freeview receiver sounds like a dream machine to me !

  7. Good job – I love mine. But I’d love to see a firmware update which addresses the delete while recording problem (like so many others I imagine) as well as the promised Ethernet connection – ideally so that some genius can write an iPhone app like the Sky+ one!
