About the Goodmans GFSAT100SD Digital Receiver

The Goodmans GFSAT100SD Standard Definition freesat Digital Box was released shortly after Freesat’s launch and whilst suffering initially from a software recall, is now proving to be the very best of the SD receivers on the market. The Goodmans GFSAT100SD brings you a sharp quality SD picture, and a LNB in/out connection allowing you to piggy-back another digital box without the need for another cable from the satellite dish (although a seperate cable from the satellite is highly recommended). The EPG (electronic programme guide) is basic but simple to use. Please note that this Goodmans Freesat SD Receiver is now able to search for additional FTA channels not available on the Freesat EPG.

    I haven’t got one of these myself, but I bought one for my mother and set it up for her.

    Pros:

    * Perfectly acceptable picture via RGB connection
    * Ease of use

    Cons:

    * Painfully slow initial transponder scan
    * The GUI (including EPG) appears rather primitive/’clunky’

    The Goodmans GFSAT100SD certainly isn’t the best satellite receiver in the world, but it’s good value. I wouldn’t want one of these connected to my main TV, but I’d happily recommend it for use with a second set.

    I have got one of these boxes to replace a Sky+ box as we weren’t using the Sky channels much anyway.
    I got mine from Currys Digital (Dixons) for £45.
    The box itself is small and discrete, but has a captive power lead which is a bit annoying.

    Installation is trivial, but there is no obvious way to force a software update.
    The installation guide didn’t match what happened on the screen but it wasn’t a big problem.

    Very easy to use in day-to-day operation, but as the previous poster said the EPG is a bit slow and clunky.

    I’d recommend this if you don’t have a HD television and want some cheap to start with

    I bought one of these two weeks ago and had it delivered all for £45 from Dixons on-line using the code given on this website. Well worth the money for use with a second TV and the facility to add programmes is useful too for FTA stations not on the EPG. The size of the unit is very neat and small compared to large clunky Sky digi boxes. Very easy to set up and operate and all in all I’m very pleased with my purchase.
