BBC have annouced that their original intention of gaining 2,000,000 viewers of the freesat service has now been increased to 8,000,000. They’ve not set a timeframe on this. The original 2mil was based around covering those areas where freeview is not available and therefore will need another form of digital tv/radio access. The new plans seem as if they are intending on using as a replacement service for freeview, afterall, no one knows just yet whether freeview through an aerial could possible cope with the HD viewing we all expect to be demanding more of.
We just wonder, with freesat potentially reaching 8,000,000 customers, similar to Sky, are they expecting to remain a ‘free’ service, or offer ‘subscription’ options too? We hope it remains free, especially as those kind of figures would certainly make existing subscription channels consider whether to go free or not, but we shall see, we are talking years ahead of ourselves here, maybe like the eventual freesat launch date
(just kidding…maybe!)

Anyone who has crossed swords with Sky will know that they care little for their customers and put profit first.
I had a run in with them because of a mistake they made and they threatened to take me to court over it.
Result?
Never again will I deal with Sky – and there are thousands like me.
I can’t get Freeview properly where I live so roll on Freesat.
