Accessing ITV HD

ITV HD isn’t set up like most other channels. Instead of simply selecting the channel from the EPG (tv guide), or pressing the required channel number, you must access via the ‘red button’ method.

All you must do is access ITV1 on channel 103, and when prompted, press the ‘red button’ on your remote. The ‘red button’ icon will only be displayed on screen when a programme on ITV1 is being simulcast in high-definition.

For a full list of available programmes on ITV in high-definition, visit our ITV HD Schedule.

Note – ITV HD is currently not available in the UTV and STV regions, you must use channel 977 ITV London instead.

So how does ITV HD work when recording a programme?!

  2. Peter Says:

I think it’s really stupid how they’re doing this. Like Tim says, you won’t be able to record from ITV HD by a timer because you’d have to be there to press the red button. They should do something like BBC HD and simply be running trailers the rest of the time. Or just turn the channel off when not in use.

Personally, I think the BBC should turn off the whole “run trailers when off air” thing and either open up the space for another channel or have HD programs 24/7.

My receiver is a Kathrein UFS933 (non Freesat). The Kathrein doesn’t have a red button but I can nevertheless add-to or edit the flash memory.
Does anyone out there know the full list of parameters / transponder data required for displaying the ITV HD service from Eurobird 28.5E?

  4. Tom Says:

@1 & 2 – Because unlike sky you can record itv hd

I live in Scotland and just bought the Humax Foxsat HD box. I phoned Freesat because I noticed that ITV HD was not available to STV area. The nice lady said just put in an English postcode which I did. Last night I was tuned to ITV London to watch Law & Order but the HD red button did not work, nor was I prompted for it. BBC HD is great! and so is Lux TV. Am I doing something wrong??

Did you try pressing the red button anyway, or changing channels and returning again, as sometimes it doesn’t show. You don’t need to change postcode however, just go to channel 977 as per the instructions above and try from there when the appropriate programme carrying the HD broadcast is shown.

  7. Derek B Says:

I was in manual mode not freesat mode. ITV HD is fine now.

I bought the Grundig HD, not very impressed with picture at the moment, is there any new software for it at present? to improve picture,I am using my old Sky dish, BBC HD is amazing also watched the football on UTV HD last sunday, very good.

ITV HD does record in HD from the timer. I recorded the Champions league final and it came out fine – there were a few glitches but they were at the Rome end I assume and it switched back to SD and then to HD after a few moments. When you select to record on Humax it asks if you want HD or SD version so it knows the difference.

    Hi
I have just had a Sky+HD box installed and I have tried to get ITVHD by changing the frequency details to 11.427 and polarisation to H. ‘Find Channels’ does not list 10510 or any Freesat channels. How can I add these channels? I have a Style and Culture package.

  11. PAT Testing Says:

ITV HD does record, but it would be great if ITV HD could have it’s own channel, like BBC HD. It would be so much easier!

I dropped you a line recently about not being able to receive ITV HD from the red button.I have tried all the things suggested to no avail.

Regards Noel

We have the same problem as we cannot get ITV HD at the moment and we also have a Humax Freesat HD box. We are in West Sussex. Any ideas.
