Freesat availability remains desperate Have your say on Freesat
May 16

Freesat’s PR company (fireflycomms) have contacted us in response to our post below to inform us of the following:

“Freesat is in fact working with manufacturers and retailers to make sure that more HD boxes will be in the shops within the next week, not the next few weeks as you say.”

“For those who want to purchase a HD box over the weekend some shops will reserve boxes for customers in-store, and Argos and Comet will take reservations online. All stores currently have standard definition Freesat receivers on sale.”

Our original post was information given to us over the phone with a customer service representative at Freesat, but we appreciate fireflycomms taking the time to contact us directly with a more official and accurate indication of available (thanks Helen).

  2. Rich Says:

The poll seems as well thought out as anything else to do with Freesat. I’m waiting for both an integrated TV and an HD PVR, but can only vote for one item.

  3. admin Says:

Rich - The poll allows multiple voting! But once you’ve voted for a single item its fixed. We’ve added in the additional vote for you and have checked, its working for new voters.

  4. Colin Says:

John Lewis Bristol tell me today (Wednesday 21st May) that they are expecting a Humax HD PVR “in July” priced at about £400.
They also advise that their warehouse has received delivery today of Humax boxes which “should be in the stores in a few days”

  5. himse Says:

£400. For that money . I’d rather subscribe to sky

  6. Gordon Says:

Not being funny but for £400, i’d be better off subscribing to SKY-HD. At least then i’d have a decent number of HD channels. If the box costs more than £250 then i think freesat will have problems.
