In a post made by Freesat (we hope its them!) yesterday on digitalspy, Freesat have confirmed that all BBC and ITV regions presently missing from the EPG line up will be available by “end of June”.

From comments made on our ‘have your say on freesat‘ blog, regionalisation was defiantly one of the main areas of discussion, so this promise goes a long way to improving the public opinion of the new service.

Freesat blamed the absence of all regions on “technical constraints associated with co-existence on the satellite platform”.

They added: “If you are in an area with a regional service that is not available yet, your temporary default is BBC London and ITV Central West. When your region becomes available, it will automatically become your default.”

This is absolutely fantastic news, yes we accept some will say that they should have been available from launch, but atleast now, within a month or so they’ll be up and running. Details of the regions below:

So when will ITV1 London be available? And what about ITV1 Thames Valley? (Or maybe that’s called ITV1 Central South on satellite?)

  2. RUFIN Says:

Whenever you own an FTA tuner (non Freesat nor Sky branded) you can get all the regional stations of BBC and ITV plus all the other Freesat and non Freesat non encrypted TV and radiostations. If, on top you own a HD set, you can also access BBC HD and ITV HD. However, getting ITV HD is not so obvious and needs some fiddling and technical know how. The only thing you miss out is a revolutionary EPG service and the interactive applications which will be on offer on Freesat later on. It’s up to the free market to decide whether this all is worth waiting for or not.

[...] ITV Regions – As you may have noticed, not all ITV regions are available at present, with many receiving ITV London, despite what postcode you type in at initial Freesat Digital Box setup. The other regions should be available the second week of June, we make that the 9th, so we shall see. Read the previous blog post on ITV regions here. [...]

I have a sky dish and understand that I can use this dish and LMB with a bbc/itv freesat box, but do I need to move the dish?
    Thank you.

It’s the 8th of July and this does not seem to have happened yet.
