On the product page, ignore the reference to “Home delivery currently out of stock”, just enter your postcode and it should give you the option of home delivery. Still not available in Argos stores.

I called Argos today and was told they were out of stock but due into stock this afternoon, so I kept checking:-
2pm out of stock.
2.10pm out of stock.
2.15pm out of stock.
2.25pm In stock - ordered one over the telephone.
2.32pm received an email from Argos saying they were back in stock
2.33pm checked online and out of stock again!
Either a massive demand online, or small delivery made to argos, either way I bet Sir Alan is wishing his amstrad company had created this. Humax will bag sack fulls this year with this amazing product!, and the best thing of all, it will hurt SKY TV, that makes me smile so much! and if Sky bosses are reading this - if you hadn’t charged so much in the first place, and put your customers first, then you would have a good loyal base of Customers. £10 per month just for HD - your having a laugh!!

Went straight to argos.co.uk and managed to get one (in the Bath area). I guess it looks like I was lucky. Mine arrives on Monday, now I just need to upgrade my LNB.

I got an email from Argos last Monday stating they had just had a delivery of the Freesat box, I placed my order and they took my money stating that I would get delivery on Wednesday, when it didn’t arrive I contacted their customer service to ask where it was, they said they didn’t have any stock and the system shouldn’t have taken my order, I was told to keep an eye on their website and to add my mail address so I can be informed of new stock, then I should ring to arrange delivery, they were a bit evasive and couldn’t tell me if one would automatically be allocated to me even though I had already paid? I got another email today stating they had more stock so I rang their customer service only to be told they didn’t have any?? apparently it takes 48 hours before they can see it on their system, doh!!! I was then told I should keep an eye on their website blah blah blah……..I think I should just get a refund as I can see this taking over my life!

Al (Original) - I ordered instllation with the PVR on Monday night, the PVR was out of stock, but the installer called me the next day to ask if 1st December was acceptable.
So it appears that installers are coping, or were on Tuesday.

Just rang Argos on 0845 6402020 and got myself into a knot - had their ref number for the Humax (532/1832) but not for the installation (527/0237). the nice lady could not find this for me “I don’ have a catalogue” so I had to ring back. To my surprise there was still stock avaialble and expect delivery of the Humax on Mon 1/12, connection promised within 7 days. I will let you know how I get on. Meanwhile I would like to thank all you regular contributors (and Admin) who have literally educated me on digital tv over the last few weeks - I have been skulking in the background (I suspect like many others) but learning from your words!

I have just ordered my box too calling argos direct. Being delivered on Saturday! How shocked was I.
I was calling to ask what was going with stock and to put me down for one when they are next in but to my surprise she said we have a two day delivery on that item and it can be with you on Saturday. Happy days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called Argos at 08:02 this morning and they still have stock it would seem. Just ordered one for delivery on Monday 1st, but Saturday delivery was offered as well.
I gave the code ADF10 mentioned above to them and they ageed to waive the delivery charge.

I received an e-mail overnight saying there was stock avaiable but no luck when I tried to order online.
I tried to order directly with Argos. I was told that they were out of stock. When I said that someone had just ordered one 10 minutes earlier, they told me that it depends whether there is stock in the wharehouse that services my area.
They told me that there would be stock in my local wharehouse within 5 days. I live in the Dorset.

Going to be a good Christmas at Argos this year, they’ve made an absolute killing on these.
Girl at JL couldn’t believe it when I mentioned that Argos had received 3 or 4 batches so far - they’ve still yet to receive a single box according to her. When you can outbuy JL, you’re doing well!
As the only store that appears to have had any apart from a what appears to be a handful at Comet, Argos must be laughing all the way to the credit crunching bank. Wish I was a share holder, I’d be laughing like santa.
All credit to Argos for supplying everyone. Their web site might have been annoying with the in stock / out of stock after payment bug, but you can’t fault the helpfulness of their telephone staff in getting these out to everyone.

as post 36, when I caught up with this thread after finishing work yesterday I phoned Argos and was told no stock. (Location wasn’t mentioned at all before getting this response)
But saw other posters were reporting successful purchases so I tried again at around 8:30 and that time got one booked for Monday delivery (suppose I might have been offered saturday if I hadn’t have mentioned the freeP&P code).
Why one advisor would say No stock and another has taken the order I don’t know.

Buy 3 x £100 gift cards and you will most likely get 3 x £10 cards back. The till prompts the assistant to do this although their T&C’s say you shouldn’t get it. It worked for me and hundreds who got the Ipod at £120 off a couple of weeks ago.
You cant use the gift cards online but if you wait till the PVR is in store soon you can cash them in . If it’s instore before 3rd December you’ll get another £10 card back for spending over £300.

Well I sat here all afternoon and it didn’t arrive. I phoned Argos Customer Services but gave up after it rang for 35 minutes. Phoned the “Place a New Order” number which was answered in 2 rings and demanded to speak to someone. After another 5 minutes got someone who said the delivery driver reported “Card left”. Said that was nonsense, was told it will be delivered “Priority” tomorrow. “Priority” still means after lunch it seems, which is a shame as I’m out for most of tomorrow afternoon. Null Points for Argos.

Presumably because it was delivered to a place of work, it was delivered at about 8am, meaning that it had reached my desk through the internal mail by 10am.

NITEMARE!
Got me box on monday….set up etc all v.good…..hdmi to dvi converter…42 inch vistron plasma, 2 years old, ‘hdtv’ all over remote and instructions etc…turned on bbc hd….faultless, vibrant amazing detail….FOR 20 seconds!!!!!!!! THEN the screen went black, but the sound still came through!! Not so bloody HDTV then! Can only think it’s the dvi connection, but after paying 300+ for box, i cannae bear to pay out another 100+ for a hdmi > component (the telly has component input, which i suspect is the ‘hdtv’ connection!)…why didn’t they stick some component outputs on the pvr??
BOOOHHHOOOO!
Any one wannae buy a 42 plasma, or got a spare hdmi>component switcher lying about!!

Just got my Order Acknowledgment from Argos, they had stock at 16:00, due for delivery on Dec 4th.
I hope their courier performs better this time as I ordered a Humax FreeSat PVR over a week ago, for delivery last Monday. It never turned up. the courier apparently sent it to Scotland by mistake and then lost it! So I ended up back in the queue waiting for stock to come in.

Having said I wouldn’t orginally buy because of the lack of Freeview recording, I finally did because the DISEQC function and the ability to use other FTA satelites therefore made up for this in my eyes.
I ordered mine on Thursday last week at Argos and got delivery today (should have been yesterday but I was out when they tried to deliver).
I also placed an order at JL to be sure but rang up and cancelled it today as still haven’t had any stock.
Verdict - Argos seem to be able to get stock when other retailers can’t. If you’re still looking for a box, I’d recommend Argos. A+ service.

Yes! Argos have them in stock if you ring up the mail order number! The website says in stock for home delivery but when you go to order online they then say out of stock! But they are definitely in if you order via phone. 2 days delivery as well! BBC HD are showing Toy Story 2 at Christmas, couldn’t miss that!!

Got mine yesterday. Delivered a day late during the only 2 hours we were both out this week, so left with neighbour. Worth noting, if you get delivery hassle, that argos are using (or at least did for mine) Home Delivery Network http://www.hdnl.co.uk. Get a ref # from argos & hassle hdnl yourself. No number to call on web site but saynoto0870.com has some local depot numbers, and 192.com can find some more. Very pleased with the PVR.

HDNL left a crad through my door Monday when I was out and helpfully this had a helpline number on it. Sounds as itf you didn’t get that Pete. Good info to know though, that if you don’t get the card, use the sites you posted.
I can’t comment on my box as I’m still waiting for my clear 85cm dish and all the cabling etc to go with it so I can self install.
It cost me £205 instead of £110 for standard installation, but this way I know everything is top notch (no cheap cables - Webro WF100 twin, professional connectors (waterproof to 5 bar!), Titanium Quad 0.2db LNB etc.), the dish is all but invisible as its clear polycarbonate so see through and getting the bigger dish means hopefully I can add a multi LNB arm and get 19E and 13E at a later date via DISECQ.

ps I have discovered a technical hitch in “File Manager” . Although I can make a file Folder and name it , I can’t then Move files into the folder , The “Copy” function Normally on the Green Remote key is Greyed out and non operational .

I wish you well - falconsat have been giving various “in stock” dates for a while - the last was on Tuesday, and the website accepted my order - but then nothing. They also ignored emails and phone calls. Particularly annoyed as I paid for the fast delivery - but what’s the point, if no stock? Just cancelled them today and got it from Argos. Argos keep sending me e-mails saying that they now have stock, however when I got to their site it says they are out of stock. Finally I phone Argos and they told me to ignore e-mails they as they have none in stock and there are no more due in until 20th Jan so it is a waste of time trying. Looks like Comet is the only place you will get it.

It’s a digital signal rather than analogue so a lead either works or it doesn’t. My Humax lead works so there’s no need to buy another. Any mention of ’superior’ is just a money making con.
