Nov 13

Don’t worry, not a massive delay, but the Humax FOXSAT-HDR so many are waiting for has unfortunately been put back a couple of weeks.

The actual reason for the delay is not being disclosed by Humax, although some beleive it’s relating to the production/assembly of the product. The Humax PVR is expected to have an official release date from Freesat, we are waiting for an updated response.

Availability in shops and online now looks likely for week commencing 24th November 2008, but possibly late that week. We suspect it might actually end up being wc 1st December 2008, given the time of year and the process still to go.

So how many hearts sank when reading that title? :)

That really screws things up here. I had planned to throw the wife out to make way for the new ‘love of my life’.

Now what am I going to do???…….Damn

  2. admin Says:

It’s just 2 weeks, can’t you put up with her until then :D

  3. MJV Says:

    ummm….

Ah well, the course of true love…

(Even started to learn how to iron - in front of the telly of course)

  4. Pete Cullen Says:

    WHY GOD WHY? :)

  5. big al Says:

    FEK !!!!

  6. Daniel Says:

Wasn’t gonna get it until after Christmas/price drop anyway

  7. Jim Says:

Remember a Humax is for life not just for Christmas

  8. Al (Original) Says:

    I’m with your thinking Daniel.

I want to see what Panasonic come up with and also whilst it would be nice to have more channels for Christmas, I’m also thinking that with the credit crunch there are going to be some HUGE bargains this year after Christmas even on newly released products. Question of if I can resist Humax temptation in favour of Panny / bargains.

  9. Barbandegs Says:

We are very disappointed but if the delay is for improvements, we trust it will be worth the wait. Nice to hear all your comments.

  10. Wayne Says:

New Panny kit will be announced to dealers in April, but they have no idea if a PVR will be included as they have lots of “other” products next year.

    You think that’s bad.

I’ve already sold mine and now it looks as if I’ve got to keep her for a bit longer…

  12. Alan Says:

Trust the official website to get it wrong-they have stated for weeks release will be mid-November. Appears they still cannot get facts right!

  13. Paul Says:

humax website still says mid November.
Only a 2 minute job to change it, or is the humax web master off on a sickie ?

  14. Gareth Says:

Oh well, I’ve already pre-ordered it anyway so it’ll turn up at some point.

  15. Jim Says:

The Humax website is showing end of November on the specifications page.

  16. wack Says:

  18. Matt Says:

Well we all know that was coming,

Humax do it all the time.

We’ll be lucky to see it this side of christmas.

  19. Steven Says:

And there was me thinking I was going to be able to record this years Morcombe & Wise Christmas Special . .

  20. Brian Says:

I predict the 3rd week of January. We have been here so many times before. Anyone here over 50? ALL consumer electronic goods are delayed in direct proportion to their perceived popularity. I suspect it is deliberate to encourage people who weren’t sure to feel that they really really need this thing and to be less discriminate about purchasing.

  21. Mark Says:

I have heard there is a shortage on the production of these boxes this year, which happened with the last Humax HD box.

  22. neo Says:

    humax , enough said

  23. Wouter Says:

if they miss out on the Christmas window, someone will get into big trouble at Humax. In January no-one has any money left, so sales will realisticly only start taking of in February (if it has been released by then)

  24. Judylucy Says:

Don’t forget, the new Humax only records in 1080i resolution.

  25. jack barton Says:

had the same problem with hitachi,,, that went oin for a year…

  26. Nigel Whitfield Says:

Like all digital recorders, it records the transmissions as they’re sent, so a 1080i broadcast is recorded as 1080i, a 720p one as 720p, and a 576i SD one as that.

There are no broadcasts at anything more than 1080i, and no one planning to broadcast at more than that either.

  27. markl Says:

It’s like xmas eve as a kid – so excited ! Patience ! Good things come to those that wait. Anybody know how to build a time machine? Could go forwards a few weeks, buy the Humax, come back and brag!! Oh and why not check out the lotto too!!

  28. Roy Says:

will the new PVR require dual LNB feeds?

  29. Nigel Whitfield Says:

As with all twin tuner satellite boxes, yes, it’ll require dual feeds (or a much more expensive unicable LNB) for full functionality.

If you want the technical reasons why, look here: http://www.nigelwhitfield.com/v2/article.php?id=50

  30. richard Says:

argos are now showing it on their website catologue 532/1832

  31. admin Says:

  33. Al Catraz Says:

Re dual LNB, has anyone tried the Argos “Freesat add-on for Sky installations” (515/0735) yet?
It’s basically a Quad LNB to replace the orginal single, with cables & connectors so I was wondering if it’s that easy to install, maybe I’ll get the ladder out…

  34. crankie1uk Says:

Al, I’m no techy and it was really easy to swap the single LNB to the quad one I got with 10 metres of cable, adapter, cable clips and plugs for around £17 from e-bay!

  35. bruce.b Says:

Re: Humax HD PVR…dont rush boys & girls ! let them iron the software bugs out first and buy one next summer for £100 less

  36. crankie1uk Says:

can’t wait that long, our freeview digifusion PVR is playing up and I’m too excited! (sad eh!)

  37. Al Catraz Says:

thanks crankie1uk - I’ll have a look on ebay and give it a go!

  38. Mike Says:

Standrad HD box is way enough for us …come next summer when prices crash we will review the situation.Frankly I fail to see the big deal. Keeping up with the Jones`s who have postponed buying the very latest for the hell of it anyway is just pure chavism.
