BBC HD Internet Blog Updated Freesat Reaches 100,000 Sales Since Launch
Sep 26

It was announced on What Hi-Fi’s website yesterday that the Humax PVR (named Humax FOXSAT-HDR) will be displayed “and launched” at the What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Show, London ExCel, running over the weekend of the 31st October – 2nd November.

The key word here is “launched”, which suggests Humax are now confident of a date, although no official communication has been made from them. Whilst we might see the receiver launched in early November, don’t get too excited, we would imagine that the launch will be followed then by distribution, so we might still be waiting a few weeks longer.

Metronic HD box will also preview here.—-supposedly we are to hear more of their PVR at the end of January 2009.

I don’t know too much about the quality and support of Metronic, I will stick to getting a Humax PVR as I’m happy with the foxsat hd box. It would be great if Panasonic launched a freesat pvr in their Diga range with a dvd recorder built in. Here’s to wishful thinking.

  3. Les Nicol Says:

Metronic are Malaysian with a European French base. Sat receivers more common in Europe. I first came across their brand name in a computer mainboard. — This product was lower end, but wouldn’t wish to knock them on a one off experience of a product. Their Sat receivers may be fine and of course they will need to meet the Freesat quality standard requirement.

  4. Michael Says:

My dads in the trade and hes been invited to a trade show from one of his suppliers on the 9th oct where the humax freesat pvr will be as well!
ill leave my thoughts on it when i get time!

  5. KDiddy Says:

Can anyone tell me, will this hd pvr work like sky+ as in I can record whole series at the touch of a button? How does the recording work can i look through the tvlistings and tell it what to record? Or is it a timer service? Sorry I have not used anything other than Sky+. Any info is appreciated.

  6. Les Nicol Says:

    K Diddy Yes and more.

  7. Bert Allsop Says:

Can anyone tell me, will the remote control switch the TV off & on

Numerous remote controllers can be a pain

  8. Les Nicol Says:

Bert - The remote on the iCord can do this so I am assuming the Freesat DTR will be the same, perhaps Bob, from Humax, will read this post and be able to confirm this capability.

  9. mannannan Says:

Will the Humax HD FreeSat pvr have the same function as the SKY+ box, where a remote TV can access and control the box and functions? Thanks!
