The 10 new channels mentioned in our previous post are now live on the Freesat EPG. They should appear automatically but if not, just carry out a re-tune.
If you’d like to let us know what Freesat receiver you have and whether a re-tune was required, please post below, will be interesting to find out whether they came on automatically as they should.

You should really credit where you found this info…
Questions you should be asking are: why have the channels been ‘released’ a day early, and whether any Alba boxes have updated yet? Or do the Alba boxes take a day to do a rescan and update?
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Well done Freesat. Keep up the good work.
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Looking forward to going home tonight and seeing if the auto update works ok! Nice to see it’s happened a day early as well!, maybe it’s a sign of things to come……come on C5 and C4HD!
July 23rd, 2008 at 2:01 pm
ʇ‾uos - we found this by carrying out our daily scans on the freesat boxes, so why do we need to credit this to anyone but ourselves?
July 23rd, 2008 at 2:48 pm
We’ve got a Humax box, it’s been on all day and hadn’t updated. Switched to standby and back on and it said new channels may be available, do you want to retune and then tuned itself. just had to click ok to save the new channels.

I Have a Bush HD Box, Nothing here yet. If i have to scan is it the first time install, as thats all i can find in the menu..
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:10 pm
It would seem a scan is needed at this time. Might be that the boxes will automatically gain the new channels tomorrow, as originally scheduled.
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:12 pm
If you do a 1st time install on the Alba boxes you will lose any FTA channels you have programmed in though. Maybe just wait until tomorrow which is the proper launch date and see if they appear.

When will the BBCi channels be made available on FreeSat
July 23rd, 2008 at 4:43 pm
All new channels on Bush HD without reinstalling. Couldn’t see them at first in the channel list, but entered channel number for one of them, 251, which then appeared. Checked the channel list again, and they were all there

July 23rd, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Have carried out full rescan on my Humax box but no new channels have appeared. Im in Wales do different areas get updated at different times?
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:05 pm
(humax foxsat hd.) Some channels were automatically added. To make sure all were added correctly started an auto retune.
Instead of adding more channels all the added ones were erased. Now it is back to 87 channels.
I can’t get back the so called 18 new channels on my Humax now. I have tried numerous times to retune. But no luck.
When turned “off” and “on” , humax tells me that some channels may have been erased. And asks for a retune. But can not find them.

Bush SD Box
Well, there’s interesting. The new channels were there when I checked this afternoon - around 4pm - but now - first noticed about 1130pm - they’ve disappeared.
Whent to stand-by and left a while; no change. Powered down; no change. Have now done a re-tune: no change… they just ain’t there no more.
Anybody else ‘enjoyed’ the same problem? Maybe they were just testing/teasing.

Humax box. No auto update, tried to do a couple of manual ones and still only got 87 ! Have to wait til tomorrow to see……..
July 24th, 2008 at 5:54 am
Humax Box - It said new channels might be available and did a rescan but nothing new was found still only got 87 channels. I live in the BBC West Region.

I think we are jumping the gun!!! We need to wait until later today to see what happens. I had Russia today on my Goodmans box yesterday but now it has gone. I think it was probably just a test to see if the upload works.

Thursday 08:30 Just switched on humax HD BOX and no extra channeds they were there last night but no sign of them now
July 24th, 2008 at 7:37 am
freesat has joined the magic circle, now you see the new channels, now you don’t
July 24th, 2008 at 7:40 am
Still plenty of today (24th) left, yesterday appears to have been just a test, so hold tight, we’ve been promised them today.
July 24th, 2008 at 8:30 am
I’ve got the Humax HD. There was a programme reserved at 1900 that I wanted to record, but after watching the recording later, it seems that the box switched on at 1900, and displayed the “new channels” prompt. It then automatically scanned for the new channels. Unfortunately, after a channel scan, it drops back to channel 101, so I didn’t record the programme I’d reserved, but BBC1 instead! Another annoying thing with the Humax is that after a channel scan, all programme reservations are deleted. Well done Freesat for adding extra channels, but as this causes the problems above, I’d rather they kept to the announced date.
July 24th, 2008 at 8:53 am
Tried freesat at 8-40am 24th no new channels ,tried to manually re-tune said no new channels (Humax firefox)
July 24th, 2008 at 9:36 am
Goodmans HD…checked EPG yesterday 4pm…..new channels….correct EPG numbers…but all grouped together at the end of the EPG…after the Radio Channels from 900+..
Did a ‘first install’ (again)…..all now in the correct positions but….LOST MY NON FREESAT CHANNELS AGAIN !!!.
July 24th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Got the extra channels yesterday but lost them again. Will check again tonight.
If the channels appear and stay then fine I’m happy. If they are not available then I will not be impressed.
Wonder what the next batch of channels will be!
July 24th, 2008 at 9:56 am
Oh….yes…as per Digital Spy Threads…….THE CHANNELS HAVE DISAPPEARED from the EPG…..
July 24th, 2008 at 10:15 am
Appears freesat had issues with this….now you see them now you don’t. I am aware that they sent a message yesterday to manufacturers confirming the launch ie a Day early.
A retune at 08:59 this morning and they are apparently back…how long for is anyones guess.
July 24th, 2008 at 10:31 am
All new channels now up and running on Humax at 1130am
July 24th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
It is now 1610 and apart frm Russia, still no sign of any new channels
July 24th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
I have had to run a first time install to get the new channels on my Goodmans HD receiver. They appeared automatically yesterday but dissapeared overnight. I had to reprogramme all the FTA channels. I hope this is not going to be a regular chore as it takes a good hour and then I have to sift through all the rubbish FTA channels and delete accordingly
July 24th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
The same thing with the Bush SD receiver, new channels appeared and disappeared yesterday; had to run First Time Install tonight to get them back.
July 25th, 2008 at 8:06 am
Exactly the same problem as Nigel and Gav on my Bush HD box, what a joke lost all my FTA channels again….please do auto scan Alba!
July 25th, 2008 at 11:15 am
Had to manual tune (first time install) both my BUSH SD boxes. When regional channels updated a few weeks back, both boxes retuned the EPG - but left blank channels (no signal) for BBC1 and ITV. So I’ve twice had to retune both boxes from scratch.
July 25th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
I have a Bush SD box and had to do a manual tune (first time install) to receive the latest batch of new programs. The regional channels came in ok automaticaly.
July 28th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Sorry for the late entry, ive been away all weekend,
Humax Foxsat, all extra chennels found automatically, no need for rescan.
