Jazz FM has today been added to the Freesat EPG, channel 729.

This takes the total channels up to 135 (100 TV, 35 Radio). Full channel listing can be found here.

Thanks Nev (avit_now) for the heads-up.

Spelling on the list of channels (729) is “Jaff FM” rather than “Jazz FM”, you might like to correct this.

I think this is a bit over stated considering you are counting the numerous BBC Regions.

Are these 200 channels by Christmas going to be mainly radio channels?
I feel so let down by freesat.
I’m so close to returning to SKY.

I shall look forward to Mike Chadwick’s Friday evening Latin show again after what seems like all those years…
I remember Dinner Jazz was OK for background, too (TV goes off when eating!).
It will be interesting to see how much none-MOR stuff there is – quite difficult to make this pay, I know.

150 channels by the end of the year, not 200 by Christmas. Basically 15 more to go!

Well I mourned the loss of TheJazz on DAB Digital Radio back in March, so it’s good to get back a national jazz music station…always good as background music for drinks/dinner parties…smooth!

OK not bad. But give us a news to cheer about.
    CH5? another HD channel? CH4HD?
YOU CAN’T REALLY COUNT ALL THE BBC REGIONAL CHANNELS AND CH4, CH4+1 REPEATED CHANNELS AS PART OF THE 200 PROMISED TILL THE END OF THE YEAR.
    WELL PUT ADAM!

    December 31st is still Christmas

From what I’ve read most sources say
Emma Scott, managing director of Freesat, says there will be 200 channels on the service by the end of 2008

Initially Emma did say that, but it’s since been expected that 150 is a more realistic target. Agree that including regional variants shouldn’t really count, but unfortunately Freesat have, which is why I’m using that info.

Yeah I’m getting tired of Freesat introducing all these new and “fantastic” channels but they are all old tired channels that no one will listen too.

Fair enough, C4 was a good introduction, but what we are really interested about are the worthwhile channels like C4HD or C5. Not these tired rusty old channels!

…not these tired rusty old comments, which appear with every channel launch…

Yes it would be nice to have some good new channels but I have a feeling that some people are just channel collectors without bothering to watch what good programmes are already on the channels they’ve got.

Lets face it we are all guilty of similar things. For example I have a huge collections of CD’s and DVD’s that I hardly ever listen to or look at. Why did I buy them? Because at the time they were a must have. What little CD’s and DVD’s I listen too or look at are my old favourites. It is the same with the TV channels I invariably end up watching one of the BBC channels or channel 4

So if 150 is the new target and we have 135 (all be it including regional and +1 channels) at the moment.

That still means nearly 2 channels a week until Christmas, and that ain’t happening at the moment.

“CHANNEL COLLECTING” A new exciting hobby. You don’t have to watch them just collect them. The target is 200. What then will you be satisfied. No!!!

  18. Paul Says:

Of course i wont watch them cos they are all rubbish !!

  19. Denis Says:

The fact is apart from 5 we have all of the channels that most viewers want to watch.

  20. James Says:

Will we be entitled to any compensation if C5 is not available by the end of the year as continually promised?
