Freesat today announced it has added Ketchup TV to its extensive on demand line up. Available from today, Ketchup TV offers free children’s entertainment and educational shows.

Firm favourites for children on Ketchup TV include Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom, Little Baby Bum, Caillou, Fireman Sam and Thomas and Friends, as well as educational programmes Super Why? and Monster Maths. Plus, this summer on Ketchup TV, kids can look forward to new Sesame Street segments such as Cookie’s Crumby Pictures, Super Grover 2.0, Elmo the Musical and Abby’s Flying Fairy School.

Commenting on the launch, Alistair Thom, managing director at Freesat said:

We’re delighted to launch Ketchup TV on Freesat and offer even more great entertainment for kids to enjoy during the school holidays. Ketchup TV is a perfect fit for Freesat as we both offer customers a huge range of free content, without the need for expensive subscriptions or contracts.

Paul Coster, CEO of Ketchup TV’s parent company VOD365 said:

The Freesat launch massively compliments Ketchup TV’s desire to deliver children’s premium content, in a 100% safe, simple, on demand environment for free TV viewers. We’re excited to be included in the evolution of free TV in the UK and very happy to be working with the great team at Freesat.

I had a dream last night that UKTV pulls out of the Sky contract and Channels like Eden, Good food and also Gold coming on to Freeview and Freesat only if this dream came true.

But you never know but as for Gold no chance wishful thinking i would laugh my head off if it did came across to Freesat.

I think the next channels will be Sony TV and Sony Movies.

Gold no chance even if it came true Gold would stay with Virgin and Talk Talk but there is still a chance for Eden and Good Food but it will be a very long time till we see these channels come to free to air. as i know Sony TV is staying with Sky for the time being.

Would be great to see sky sports news and or a rival channel like it

That’s not as daft as it sounds. If Sky Sports News was broadcast on Freesat, then it would be a constant reminder to viewers of what they were missing on Sky, so having what amounts to a teaser might well be considered good marketing. Then again, Freeview would be an even better platform since it has a lot more viewers.

The bottom line in satellite broadcasting is that things move quickly and you never know what’s around the corner. Sony TV is FTV and therefore not within Sky’s subscription packages.

I very much doubt Gold would join without a very good DTT slot however do think Good Food and Eden are both the next contenders.

Yes i agree with you Neil i do think Eden and Good Food are next contenders. But also happy with Dave and Home i can now get to watch Top Gear without having to pay for it, Freesat is getting better and I’m looking forward to see what channels come next.

An FTA version of Quest Red +1 has been put up again.

    11426, V, 27500, 5/6

It’s tagged as 52556 rather than the channel name.

That’s the same transponder that carres the FTA versions of Quest and Quest Red. The previous time that the two +1 channels were briefly FTA they were the ones on the Sky transponder. Cue the speculation!

I too am more than happy with all the recent additions, shows the confidence UKTV and Discovery see in Freesat and it being “up there” with DTT as a FTA platform to be on.

Let’s not get carried away here. More sport would be great but, apart from niche and eclectic stuff, all the major televised sport is tied up with the big players. There’s a channel called Freesports launching soon, owned by the people behind Premier Sports – I don’t know anything else about what it will show though.

I left Sky for Freesat after a stressful time trying to leave them never again would i go back to Sky after the way they treated us badly.

Freesat is much better we had our Humax 1100 for a week now and our family loves it and we get all our favourite channels and pay for nothing and I noticed as well that Freesat have been getting new channels we love watching Quest Red

The only channels that my kids miss is Cartoonito does anyone know if we will see this channel on Freesat or even Freeview at somepoint.

It looks like Quest Red+1 is coming our way but Quest+1 is still encrypted.

    This is a good website.

It’s a story I hear from a lot of people Natalie. Sky have got very greedy over the years and with the likes of Netflix and Amazon, they are no longer the sole place in the UK for premium pay content.

Spread the Freesat word to more Sky subscribers as the more who defect to the platform the more chances channels will join Freesat, particularly HD ones too.

Technically that’s true, depends whether you regard it’s first airing on a BBC channel as being the CAPEX for each programme, UKTV’s airing is purely for commercial resale value!

Ketchup tv has potential but it does need more shows but there isn’t that much for the older children. Anybody remember He-man and the Masters of the Universe & Don’t you Open that Trap door? I’d love to see Ketchup tv grow as it is now with not just modern kids shows but older ones too!
