It seems that some of you out there are seeing a new black version of the Freesat website, although it might be taking time to filter through to everyones browser. If you are getting the new website and can supply us with screenshots/page prints, please leave a comment below and we’ll contact you.
What we’ve managed to ascertain so far from this new site (although likely to be inaccurate):
- Launch is 1st May 2008
- Retailers are those we list on the right column…plus independant retailers!!!
- E4 and More4 are listed as being available
- ITV HD is listed as being available

It looks like they’ve taken it down now. It asks for a username/password.

From the new site
APRIL UPDATE
April Update
freesat digital boxes available in stores from May 1, 2008.
Panasonic is to launch flatscreens complete with Freesat receivers – meaning no need for a separate set-top box when the Freeview-and-HD-via-satellite services start later this year.
All new freesat website goes live April 14, 2008.

I’m still seeing the same white pages (with little real information) I saw yesterday. They should just link to this site – its much better informed!

Cool, sit back for a week or 2 (if you can) and wait for all the independant retailers to undercut eachother.
The sad thing is every independant retailer I have spoke to seems to know all about it but they say you can only get it from the 4 big retailers.
Everyone I have spoke to in the big 4 retailers havn’t got a clue about it
(but they have been genuinly interested when I tell them all about it)

Well we did say that they are likely to be wrong, and still stand by our original 6th May launch, http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/index.php/6th-may-confirmed

Well, it’s gone midnight (GMT, 6/5/08) and no change to the freesat website nor John Lewis. Can’t be bothered checking other retailers at this hour – wonder what daylight will reveal?
