The Travel Channel have taken the decision not to be included on the Freesat EPG, not in the short term future anyway. With over 100,000 Freesat units already sold, and large increases expected up to the end of the year with the introduction of the Freesat+ receiver, it seems a strange decision to take for a small EPG inclusion fee, especially considering the limited number of travel type channels on Freesat at present.

Ashley, a reader of joinfreesat.co.uk received the following response from Travel Channel:

Hi Ashley,

Unfortunately, we do not have plans to launch on the Freesat EPG. But we encourage you to keep watching Travel Channel!

Best regards!

Don’t forget that the Travel Channel can still be watched by manually adding, frequency 12560 V 27500 2/3.

Hi, when you say the channel can be added manually, is that in freesat mode or just non-freesat mode (or both?).

    Hi Georgie,
You can only manually add channels in the Non-freesat mode. Just do a search using the info above and save there.

No great loss to a lot of us. i must say i thought the EPG would be a lot fuller by now it seems to be a real drip feed. when they mentioned 120 channels, i was rather hoping that didn’t include radio. im sure its just a case of being patient.

At least the Travel Channel responded to Ashley’s query.I asked the Horse & Country and At The Races channels if they were intending to air on Freesat and neither had the common courtesy to reply!

In reply to Michaels comment – if you look at the H&C TV website you see the following:

Horse & County is currently only available through Sky and other satellite services such as Sky Freesat. (this is not BBC/ITV FreeSat we are currently not on that service but hope to be soon)

Horse & Country is available FTA if you tune in non-Freesat channels, it’s just that it would be more convenient and accessable on Freesat. I also asked them if they were going HD, but as I said,no response as yet

I know this is a late reply, but I would doubt it if At The Races ever appeared on freesat considering it is partly owned by bSkyb

I am not very technical and can’t see the obvious method to add the Travel Channel to the Freesat list of programs.

Is it possible for a kind person to explain how to do this on a step by step basis please?

    Thank you
