Software update for Humax HDR-1000S available from todayFollowing our report that Humax would launch a new software update towards the end of March, they have pulled out all the stops to release the software today.

The software will resolve a number of major bugs that customers have experienced with the HDR-1000S over the past few months since launch (but more brought on by the update in January).

The update includes the following (version number 1.00.37):

Support for YouTube
Compress IP data collection (reduce amount of data downloaded via IP)
Fixed first recording failure after unit is in standby overnight
Fixed Resume issue when playing back recordings
Improved Aspect Ratio on Video playback
Time Shift Recording improvements
Improved issues with Instant Reply during playback
Wi-Fi driver Improvement
Improved Trick player after changing channels
Resolved searching for channels or using Non freesat mode deletes timers.
Start-up improvements
Hang-up improvements
Conflict Resolution improvements
Resolved Dynamic channel update issue
HDD Storage display improved
Fixed HDD format message appearing when Installation Wizard is not completed
Series Recording Improvements
iplayer Improvements
ITV Player improvements
Improved “Showing Again” information
Improved broadcast file/data collection
Video Playback improvements
MHEG Improvement
Resolved issue when exiting TV Portal

The software is available over-the-air, so will download next time your receiver drops to standby, alternatively you can manually update from the system settings menu now.

If you have experienced issues over the past few months, let us know how you get on with the new update.

This is great news – off to try a manual update now – fingers crossed it irons a few things out.

Would love an ETA on the 4OD and Demand5 features at some point…but something tells me that these are being slowly forgotten, likely never to materialise.

Glad to see this update appears to have resolved a lot of bugs, some bigger than others. I wonder if 4OD and Demand 5 is included in this update but just not made active yet so for a launch end of March?

Pleased to see this update arrive earlier than expected but I was informed by Humax that the 40D and Demand 5 issue is down to channels 4 and 5 not having developed the software and nothing to do with Humax. It’s odd that the Humax Youview box has all four on-demand services.

My recently purchased Humax HDR 1000s used to freeze when coming out of standby after the freesat / humax start up screen. This could only be resolved with a complete power cycle and I have tried avoiding putting the box into standby. Fingers crossed this issue seems to be resolved. The test will be coming out of standby tomorrow morning after being off all night.

Is there a downloadable website link available?

And has brought a whole load of new software bugs.
Now cannot use on demand without the picture either freezing up or picture breakup when returning to live tv along with an Audio/Video decoding buffer underrun message appearing every few seconds which results in turning on and off again.

Have quite a few reports of issues with the latest update, including the hard drive showing zero availability of capacity which requires a full reformat. Also a number stuck on the software loader screen unable to complete. Plus sound issues, some mentioned above. Wonder how much Humax tested this on a number of receivers before releasing; hopefully they will sort customers out with replacements.

Oh dear. Was waiting for this update to fix all (or most) of the previous problems so I could go out and buy this box. Will have to wait a bit longer now to see if things improve. My Humax Foxsat HDR is still working OK but is a bit slow using the EPG and drives the wife mad. She was also looking forward to a “faster box”, but ready the reviews it seams the EPG is still slow!!

What is the latest software update number so I can check if mine has updated?
My box is saying HDD full HDD 0Gig – can’t record ANYTHING, my household are going mad.

Do I have to reformat it, I’ve unplugged, restarted but still showing the same problem, also wifi has lost connection and won’t reconnect. :(

Is there a link to update manually via usb stick – used to update like this with my ‘EchoStar Freesat Box’ If this keeps up the family want me to put the Echo box back on!

As per the original post, version number 1.00.37.

Yes, you will need to do a reformat to resolve the 0gb hard drive issue.

I am looking at buying a HDR-1000s tomorrow.

I am interested to know if this firmware update prevents the use of non-humax wifi dongles such as the edimax?

(*see Rox “wifi has lost connection and won’t reconnect” comment above).

Admin @9 and @12. No wishing to shoot the messager, you understand, but this is very, very poor. Humax have gone down greatly in my estimation. They don’t appear to do even basic regression testing.

There should certainly never be any excuse for forcing a hard-drive reformat with an update. Have they changed the file-system? I’m still very pleased with my Foxsat-HDR and will be sticking with that, despite a few minor bugs Humax introduced two updates ago and have not bothered to fix.

Just to let you know mine is the official Humax dongle, and a reformat sorted the HDD 0gig issue out – also had some sound issues during commercials.

Re edimax dongle – mine works perfectly after the update. only had to put the password in after the update.
We left SkyHD only recently and find the picture quality streets ahead of what we were getting with sky.

I download the update via the settings menu and then when it has completed the download and rebooted, the system is still at 1.16, not 1.37? Anyone else unable to get the system updated? My update in December to 1.16 worked fine.

I switched on my Study box this morning and it would not boot up, it kept switching itself off. I kept the power pressed down and it eventually kicked in. I have three of these boxes and am now fed up as I dare not try and update the Lounge and Bedroom boxes in case they start playing up as well.

Any ideas what I can try next? I tried updating via USB and this did not work either.

Not impressed. Had this a few months now when first got ran fine. Since it started updating its gone backwards. Channels take forever to change they just stick and sometimes dont even come on. What a heap of rubbish! Disgrace that this stuff can be released to the public for sale. Thought I was buying a good piece of kit based on feedback from previous Humax models customers gave but this new one has been rushed and is a dud.

Couldn’t agree more – no such thing as a decent box..

I seem to be one of the lucky ones. The update seems to have fixed many of the previous glitches, of which failed recordings was the most irritating. But now it no longer appears auto delete which it did very well before (yes, I’ve checked the settings.) The box filled itself up to 100 per cent the other night and then crashed.

When is the next update coming along? Will it solve this loading flashing constantly on the youtube channel? I paid £230 for this box and it seems such a bad mistake. I don’t see why I should have to put up with this. Please fix

Re: 24, 25, 26 I too get the ‘Loading’ message on Youtube while the video(s) seem to stream perfectly well. Irritating to say the least. Nice to see 4OD and Demand 5 finally available.

One nice feature on the Youtube is being able to pair an Android device to act as a remote control and to create playlists etc as the search function via the Humax remote is a pain in the @rse
