About the LG 32in 32LF7700 LCD with in-built Freesat Receiver

Experience breathtaking Full high definition images with this ultra-slick LCD from LG. The 32LF7700 features a built-in freesat tuner so you can enjoy HD channels from the BBC and ITV without the need for an external box.

The Dual XD Engine processor optimises the picture quality from digital and analogue TV, and from anything else – games consoles, camcorders, etc. – that you have plugged into the external inputs.

An intelligent sensor works out when lighting conditions in the room change, altering the picture settings automatically. This provides a more enjoyable viewing experience and also uses less power, saving you money.

24p Real Cinema ensures you enjoy a judder-free film-like image just as the director intended, when connected to compatible Blu-ray or DVD players.

You’ll enjoy the 50PQ3000’s audio performance – even though you won’t be able to tell where it’s coming from! It’s all thanks to the invisible integral speakers. They’re embedded in strategic spots around and underneath the front bezel, increasing the ‘sweet spot’ to give a wider and richer sound field.

The USB 2.0 feature allows you to connect a USB flash memory device to the TV in order to play audio (MP3 files and display your favourite JPEG images. Includes a table top stand.

BBCi Player – When is this to become available for the LF7700 sets ?

    I’ve also got a 32LF7700 TV.
I was informed when I purchased it in Dec 2009, that BBCi Player would be available by the end of that month. Websites seem to suggest early April. It is now the last week of April – When is BBCi Player coming to these TV’s – or has it been scrapped ?

I telephoned LG a few weeks back , and was informed that BBCi player update will be during JULY !

I’ve e-mailed them yesterday – awaiting confirmation that this will take place.

Dissapointed to find that my TV purchased six ago – is now discontinued !

Is this the norm, for a TV range to be discontinued within a year of introduction !

Seems strange for LG to discontinue a model so soon !

perhaps they are more interested in 3D televisions and Freeview (HD).

The lack of support to the BBCi player to the LF7700 sets seems to confirm this.

called LG a few days back – they don’t know when (or if) the BBCi player will com to the LF7700 !

Looks like they abandonded the upgrade, when they discontinued the model !

Think it’s time to take the TV back for a FULL refund !

    Comment from LG….
“The software for iPlayer is released by the BBC. As of yet there has not been a deal reached between BBC and LG to allow software for iPlayer to be added to LG televisions. As soon as a deal has been reached, the expected released date will be broadcast to the public via our website. This is as much information as we have regarding this matter at the present time.

We are also not aware that this unit was ever advertised by LG as having BBC iPlayer on it,nor that it was definitely going to be available on the set.
We have today studied the article from the page that you forwarded to us and can see that it clearly states “future internet services most notably BBC iplayer which will hopefully will be available later this year” This statement does in no way signify that a deal has been reached between LG and BBC. It states that speculation would suggest BBC iPlayer may become available on this unit.
To reiterate as of yet there has been no deal reached between LG and BBC to enable LG to add iPlayer to their televisions, as soon as there is any news on this it will be available on our website.”

    hmmm
The software to run iplayer is already in the TV. Its called an MHEG engine, its what enables all the red button services. Freesat HD stamped devices are supposed to have MHEG and the MHEG interaction channel installed(bit that enables iPlayer)
LG would have to buy this MHEG engine from a commercial supplier not the BBC. As I understand it, they have not bought/deployed the interaction channel bit of it.
I have one of these and will be giving it back and complaining to trading standards and Freesat for misrepresentation if they don’t provide the complete engine

    To LGB2100

The 32″ LF7700 may or may not have been officially advertised by LG as having BBC iplayer on it. The impression I was given when I bought the TV, was that all Freesat TVs would have iplayer. Indeed I even bought the homeplug adaptors for £85 to allow me to do this, which have sat there useless ever since.

However what is certainly true is that this TV was advertised as having very low power consumption – namely <0.5W on standby, and this is one of the reasons I bought it. I've measured it using a plug meter, and it's more like 14.7W – costing £15 per year on standby! I put in a query to customer services over a year ago to check whether my unit was faulty, was told I would get a reply, rang again, told the same thing, but nothing. All I can conclude is that this must be the case with all of this model of TV, not just the one I bought. So there is definitely a case for wilful misrepresentation on at least two fronts with LG and reporting to trading standards.
