About the Panasonic 32in TX-32LZD81 LCD with in-built Freesat Receiver

The Panasonic TX-32LZD81 is the first LCD television with a Freesat receiver, allowing you ultimate choice on platform for your television programme viewing. The in-built Freesat receiver combined with the Panasonics outstanding high-definition picture and sound, makes this the set to own. Combining the two, you can enjoy sharp pictures, vivid colours, multi-channel sound, and various services with the interactive contents.

Full-HD models with freesat built-in, High Moving Picture Resolution and Advanced Networking Capabilities.

Its state-of-the-art technology gives amazing picture quality, with the Intelligent Frame Creation giving fantastic resolution even during fast moving scenes – something football fans and film buffs will both appreciate.

Every image is richly detailed – from the brightest sunshine to the darkest night sky – and contrast is enhanced by the new Real Black Drive system that creates deep, robust blacks and reproduces scenes with a fine balance of light and shadow.

Sound is enhanced with its in-built V-Real Pro 3 surround sound technology (with bass extension), while the 24p Real Cinema settings offers enhanced judder-free playback, giving a smooth ‘film’ look. The 3 HDMI sockets allow you to hook-up your Blu-ray player, PVRs and games consoles with ease.

The TX32LZD81 is also capable of playing footage straight from your camcorder in high-definition mode and you can view a slideshow of your photos – just remove the SD memory card from your digital still camera, and slip it in the slot.

Laskys appears to be selling this TV for £799, not £699.99 as it says above…

I am very pleased with the performance of this TV, however I would like to use more than one LNB for multi-satellite reception. When I checked the spec. in the user manual it appears that DISEQC control is not available; which means no automatic switching between LNB’s. Therefore to receive from more than one satellite it will be necessary to use a manual LNB switch.

It would be useful if a PVR with only one tuner were made available to complement TV’s with integrated freesat.

Richer Sounds have this in stock at £549.99, they did actually advertise it a week ago at £499.99 but didn’t have any stock when I called!

I’m absolutely delighted with this purchase after some thoughtful research. It’s a wonderfully clear TV and, most important for a non-technical person like me, an absolute doddle to instal. I just plugged the old Sky cable coming in from the aerial into the back of the Panasonic, and it was ready to watch with all the channels literally in second.

However (and here’s the thought for other would-be purchasers), I hadn’t considered the other rooms in the house with old-style TVs. It appears that I can’t take an output from the Panasonic to the aerial socket to then feed satellite TV to the rest of the house. So I now either have to buy a stand-alone freesat receiver box to receive the incoming line from the aerial, which means I might as well have just gone for one in the first place with an ordinary digital TV (i.e. without freesat built in) for less money. Or I have to pay for a new 4 line in set-up from the aerial, one to serve each of the TVs, and buy a normal set-top box for each of the standard TVs to convert them. The outcome is that I have a TV which I love which I’ll probably be watching late into the night because I can’t see any TV at all in my bedroom after digital switch-off without considerably more cost… Mmm.

9/10. Brilliant piece of kit, fantastic picture (although I think I should have gone for the 37″…), freesat very easy to use. Drops 1 star for not retaining the 100Hz of its siblings, and the awkward non-freesat mode.

I got mine from the Panasonic shop in Exeter for £599 with 5 year guarantee after falling for the ploy by Richer Sounds to get me in their store to buy one at £499, which are never seem to be available at that price, but they did a great job trying to sell me other brands.
I had been looking to buy a Sony but after comparing the two the Panasonic wins easily. Just wish the TV guide was a bit easier on the eye, but I suppose I will get used to it.
Watching football in HD is fantastic, as soon as you put it on the can notice the improved sound, it blasts you away, and the picture is unbelievable, so clear.

This is a brilliant piece of kit, which has capabilities I have only just begun to explore. The picture is sharp, the sound is clear, and it is simple to use.

Love this tv. Seem to be one of the lucky few who got it at Richer Sounds for £499 (after queueing for an hour before opening on New Year’s Day). Can’t get full range of Freeview, but do have Sky as well (though waiting for SkyHd). BBC HD looks great (shame no more HD channels yet). Have now paired with a Sony Blue-Ray. Not an expert on HD, but to me, the 1080p picture is crystal clear. Like one of the other comments, 9/10 as shame the 100Hz not on this model.

Super TV picture & sound. Love the way it picks up terrestrial and satellite DVB. Strange it was discontinued so soon. However the “Advanced Netwoking Capabilities” are a mystery as I still can’t get BBC iPlayer even though other Freesat products can. I don’t know what other good the “Advanced Netwoking Capabilities” can do me. Why advertise “Advanced Netwoking Capabilities” when they can’t be used for anything? I got a little thrill seeing my TV with an ip address but it’s long since worn off especially as I spent more than a few bob getting the gizmos that allow networking through the power cables. Is there some other use I can make of the “Advanced Netwoking Capabilities”?

    Dear Sir/Madam,
Will we ever receive the promised software download to enable I player / Itv Iplayer ? ( promised end September 2010 ).
If not please just advise, then, we can take the necessary action to ensure that we can actuallly receive it by Xmas this year with the aid of your major competitor . No problem ,but I am dissappointed that you gave promises which were not upheld and no publicity was offered .
Now , please understand that the TV is just fine , however I have gone to some trouble to equip it nearby with full broadband and simply await the download of software to allow I player and simply plug in an R J45 .
Come on –Just give me a response. If you are not going to do it just say so, and we will get a Sony installed –but ,not,if you can give us the download, but, please let us know ok . Civility costs nothing – absolutely nothing .So, please respond.
I await your response with anticipation.
    Yours faithfully ,
    Dave Henderson

I spoke to Panasonic a couple of weeks ago. Originally they said it was going to be the end of September 2010 before iPlayer was available on this model, now they are saying early next year. I bought the telly partly on the strength of the future iPlayer capability. I doubt they will actually release the update at all, and hope you will buy a more up to date panasonic telly. I for one will never buy Panasonic again.

I like the Panasonic TX-32LZD81 as a television however

Panasonics repeated failure to deliver Iplayer updates when stated,
Customer Services lack of answering questions with relevant information, added to no replies to emails sent to Panasonic make me severely regret buying Panasonic products which after less than 2 years are apparently technically abandoned and ignored.

Unfortunately it is not only owners of TX-32LZD81 televisions that have been treated this way, owners of Panasonic Freesat blue ray recorders are also being treated the same.

I agree that the Panasonic TX-32LZD81 is a really good TV but Panasonic’s inability to deliver iPlayer or the Teletext Jobsite connectivity one year after it became available is appalling!

Agree TX-32LZD81 great TV but Panasonic’s lack of technical support is appalling. Companie’s that treat their customer with such disrespect will suffer in the long run. Panasonic, get your act together.

Do Panasonic actually read these posts. Why are they not responding to peoples comments. What is the definitive answer to iPlayer on this model. Put us out our misery and let us move on. How frustrating is this. Tried phoning, say they are too busy!

No. Panasonic won’t bother wasting time/money on sorting this out now that they’ve already sold these models (partly by promising iplayer)

TX32LZD81 is a great TV. However, I am very disappointed that we have been led to believe by Panasonic that they would update the software eventually. What’s the point of an ethernet port on this TV that is, essentially, useless? Still live in hope. Unfortunately, our Bluray DVD player is also promised this long-overdue update. Come on Pasnasonic – there’s a reputation to be kept up here!!!

I have connected the tv to the internet – nothing worth watching on Viera Link . .
    any ideas, news, etc. .

  28. plutopants Says:

Echoing others, I too am hugely disappointed the promised update to enable the ethernet port to actually work has never come. I did buy it on the assumption that Internet-delivered media would eventually work with it.
Also bought a Panasonic Bluray DVD player with it and that’s never had its promised update either.
Personally, just this kind of thing is enough to prevent me buying Panasonic again – despite the fact that the TV is actually very good.
