  1. Hi admin
I see in the listing above it says sky news and pick TV , NO CHANCE ?
So hopefully this means maybe quest TV or even Dave one day

    🙂

  2. Harry said: It replaced Pitch World after Pitch went into administration- looks like the changes to the freesat data happened yesterday as the overnight update has put ‘Discount TV’ on 804 (and capitalised 803 to ‘PITCH TV’).
In addition to Ahlulbayt TV, Paversshoes and Horse & Country, there are a number of other channels with the 3840 freesat data PID active; DM Digital, LBC, LBC News 1152 and ’8900′ on 11024H.
Data is still present on a number of channels which have left the platform or taken over from channels that were on freesat at some point: SuperCasino, UMP Movies, Channel AKA, Sony Movies (took over from Movies4Men2), Sony Movies+1 (took over from Movies4Men2+1) and bid plus (took over from speedauctiontv). Chart Show Dance has had its PID enabled since freesat’s launch…

Cheers Harry, noticed too that PID’s are left active after channels have ceased. DM Digital’s has been there for ages, not sure if Ahlulbayt and Paversshoes TV have though? It’s also interesting that 3840 is active on that 8900 encrypted stream, maybe it could be something destined for the platform (Channel 5HD??). I would like Chart Show Dance to come on board, apparently when Ministry of Sound were involved with Dance Nation they wouldn’t pay for inclusion which is why it’s CSC’s last station not on-board. Since the rebrand it is now 100% CSC owned so there’s hope!

It is interesting looking at that list as things have moved on somewhat since last January. Just goes to prove that ‘never say never’ when it comes to channel additions – I never thought Sky would ever put their channels on the platform, just shows when there’s some bargaining and arm twisting to be had (in the form of ITV Player/iPlayer) by FS’s two shareholders then things start to happen!! They did miss one clause though, that the +1’s were included too!

I’m looking for the new white humax box anyone know where it’s in stock 🙂
    Thanks

  5. Satbuyer can get them in, but don’t current stock. I think like most retailers, the white unit is very niche (and very expensive) so isn’t a popular unit to stock.

Be careful where you buy from.

Considering £299.99 from most places from Richersounds to JLP, Currys and most Indies. Many people including me Don’t seem that the price is too high for a box that has Integrated WI-FI and 1TB hard drive.

Possibly not, but the trade price is very high for the product and retailers are having to be careful how much they hold in stock. Also, £50 more for a white box with wifi is quite an increase in price.

  8. I don’t see the trade prices.. 50quid for a white box with wifi and a tb hard drive people would pay more for the black 1tb and wifi dongle 279.99 + 39.99 JLP prices. so what’s the problem. With saving the extra cash getting the white box. Unless this is a trade issue that its only available to trade that are not ripping the price to shreds #save the high st.

  9. Not really, the black 1TB can be easily bought for less than £250 so that is a £50 difference, less ~£10 for an appropriate wifi dongle and you’ve saved a ton. But anyway, the point being that retailers aren’t that keen to stock the white unit as it doesn’t make sense to do so, the product is incredibly niche.

  10. I do beg to differ with you Admin its best that we call this one off. We could go on about prices and no profit for the Sellars. This is well known from retail. for example you only have to look at the ERT weekly magazine. That the internet only dealers that have no overheads. And are ripping the prices apart. This is causing the high st to close many of our electrical shops.

The white freetime is going very well. you have your contacts in freesat or may be not Now… ask them. I have my retailer that I have brought from and friends in the trade. I do personally know this box is in high demand and May it continue. lets hope freesat continues to be the force they are and bring the App soon as I would like to do remote recording whilst away. 🙂

  11. You are arguing points that I didn’t even raise, I merely stated that not many places are stocking it because of the high trade price in relation to a niche product and not very comparable with the existing black version. I have plenty of contacts but don’t need to ask freesat, I know from Humax figures that it isn’t selling well, neither are freetime boxes in general but the whole industry is flat at the moment. As the largest independent freesat retailer, I know!!!

  12. Sorry I beg to differ ***. As the largest independent freesat Retailer dealer ??? . Richersounds . Hughes-Electricals etc. just some out there.

You have done a fantastic job promoting freesat the last five odd years. we need to agree to disagree on the sales of this box.

  13. They just need a big enticement such as a top sports channel option as a pay extra! Added with 4od&demand 5, I’m sure free time sales could pick up.

Not sure what the stars are, hope it wasn’t a swear word! Richersounds, Hughes etc are defiantly not large freesat retailers, not by a long way, but they are big electronics companies no doubt.

I have a good level of knowledge from being in the industry, but fair play, everyone has their opinion, I was only telling the original poster Dave that their are limited places to buy the white box and reason why.

Agree to disagree, have a good rest of the weekend 🙂

  15. How many white tv’s and white home cinema amps are there on the market at present? I suispect Bang and Olufsen may make some but other than that not many. When white tvs are the norm a white Freetime box would be a good idea but until then forget it.
Freetime need to get it’s act together. Six months on and still no 4OD or Demand 5 but on YouView from day one.

  16. Off topic a bit but electric sofa media have updated their website and now includes films and previews of programmes so it appears they are still hoping to launch their 3 new channels but still no launch date

  18. HD test label 8900 which some folks were hoping was C5HD is now on air properly – carrying BBC2 HD fta!

How does that differ from BBC2 HD formerly BBC HD Channel if at all?
I notice Newsnight Scotland 11pm-11.20 is not carried on BBC2 HD only on BBC2 Scotland in SD. Could this new BBC2 HD be for country variations?

  20. Unbelievably they have not paid for a listing for the +1 variant of Travel Channel on Freesat. I presume Sky doesn’t pay for Challenge +1 on purpose just to make a point that its there but you need one of their boxes for maximum convenience. But what would a non Sky channel have to gain by not listing its +1 version. Or is Sky also behind this denial of +1 variants by other channels on Freesat? The Panasonic GT50 series handles the non Freesat channels pretty nicely letting you only put those channels you want in the list in whatever order you want unlike Freesat itself where you are rigidly stuck with having channels 101, 102, 103 and 104 occupied by their SD variant and cannot swap with HD (unlike the Freeview part of the same set where you can make these swaps).
