hmmnnn. I wonder what took community channel so long nearly 5.5 years? at least I’m more likely to watch community than that shopping channel that launched a couple of days a go since April when 6 channels launched on freesat so far no other month has beaten it, Admin not sure if you know When is the BBC launching its channels?

Brilliant, Tim in the 15/10/12 Update Scan thread gave a mild hint this was on it’s way but understand there’s probably commercial confidentiality behind it so if he knew couldn’t say anything.

I’m glad this channel is on-board, it shows some good programming and is one channel missing from the line-up. Looks like we’ve got some more updates coming next week too with Now Music TV’s launch too. When I scanned a Foxsat HD last week it came up with a total of 195 channels (the whole lot, including Timeshifts etc etc). I guess by next Tuesday we could be up to 198, two channels away from 200!

@Neil, I was informed that positive discussions were taking place but I didn’t want to pre-empt or presume anything and I’m pleased that they obviously reached an agreement which is fine by me. :)

This channel is worth having because it does show some good documentaries. For example, take a look at what’s on this very evening:

20:00 – National Trust – Britain’s Treasures from the Air
A spectacular look at how the National Trust has pursued its mission to preserve Britain’s most valued places – all beautifully filmed from the air.

    21:00 – The Bald Explorer
The Bald Explorer goes back in time to the find some of Britain’s earliest monuments, those left by prehistoric man.

No worries Tim, I emailed them a year or so back and they said they were keen to join but cost was prohibitive, glad they’ve reached a deal. Interestingly, Sky host this channel in a deal with other broadcasters so wonder if they’ve supported this as part of their deal alongside other partners (the BBC, ITV and C4).

I’ll check out that National Trust programme shortly.

It can’t be a copyright name, as copyright lends itself to the manufacturer of a product, but it can be a trademark name. However, I’ve searched the IPO database and can’t find it, yet Kindle Freetime and Tesco Freetime are there.

Correction, they do have “FREETIME”, “FREE TIME” and “free time” registered but providing Amazon use “Kindle” in their name, then it shouldn’t conflict; or if they use one of the classes Freesat haven’t registered.

That’s cleared that up then. Interesting, thanks admin :D

Freetime is an Amazon app for Kindle fire tablets. It allows parents to create individualized password-locked profiles for each of their children.

And back on with the subject
Think its great that they got the community channel

But you all probably know what I’m thinking about some great new channels
I would think another few million would get freesat if they get these U**V channels :-)

ITV +1 (Yorkshire) on 10994H, the remaining +1 still not properly regionalised for the Yorkshire ITV region, now has a data PID enabled so may mean those in Yorkshire finally getting their correct region on +1 soon. I wonder why on earth it’s taken ITV so long to sort this out when it’s been FTA for almost a year now!

Also John Bentley mentioned missing Channels mentioning Dave a Low Blow or what? Well as we freesatters know its Solely down to Broadcasters not pulling their weight take Channel 5HD for example!

No sorry, this programme has no credibility at all so isn’t worth the time!

Interesting that they had to include Freesat instead of ignoring it like last time.
Clearly a biased comparison and nothing to do with CH5 being a shareholder in YouView of course. :D

Yep, fully agree. I don’t know who does the research in to the Gadget Show for their features but they’ve certainly not done their homework. They claimed youview had better PQ than Freeview – it’s the same source!

Put my complaint in to Channel 5 viewer enquiries.

I need advice please. There is a bargain sale here next week including 100 Freeview enabled TV sets at half price. I see very few Freesat enabled TVs and my two have boxes of course. Can I use a Freeview enabled TV set to hook up with my dish if I buy another set top box for it? It would still be worth it.

Am I thinking right that Channel 5 have got brown ankles with Sky due to Channel 5 HD contract, and they might have put some pressure on 5 regarding Freesat exposure on the Gadget Show.

    Who knows.

    Who knows.

Nothing surprises me with Sky but in terms of their PSB commitment and what the programme, or feature within, provides should be unbiased which it clearly isn’t.

NOW Music launched today (Greatest Hits TV rebrand) but doesn’t go on the Freesat EPG until the 28th, next Monday.

Strange, as EPG data has been there since last week. When I last looked, it had LCN 812 (presumably for testing, like Arise News HD’s test slot of 974) and was listed as ‘NOW Music’. Shortened name just has the space removed.

Interesting, the 3840 F/S data PID on Now Music’s SID (11222H) has just been activated yesterday, this is what made me suspicious they weren’t to launch at the same time as the rebrand.

It’s not a bad channel, I know there’s people on here that say all the music channels are the same but NOW Music shows everything from the NOW series back catalogue and they were playing some rarer 80’s stuff when I checked it out yesterday morning.
